Friends That Lilly Trip
Getting There
Martha’s Vineyard Airport is a tiny airport (with tiny airplanes). The remote islands we have been to have bigger airports. We have flown on smaller planes before – the ones with 2 seats on one side and one on the other which is what we flew in on. Flying out however, we were on a plane that held 10 people and one of them sat up front next to the pilot. They just throw your luggage in through a window at the airport. We had scheduled a car to come get us to take us to the airport, but it never showed up. Luckily we called a different car service and we were able to get us to the airport on time. However, it ended up not mattering since our flight left about an hour late. Of course this caused us to have to run to our connecting flight and my suitcase did not make it on the plane. It got rerouted to Atlanta and they delivered it to our house the next day.
Where to Stay
Summercamp Hotel Oak Bluffs
The hotel has a cute design, but we really did not like being on the first floor. We ending up getting a handicap room and apparently all of the other rooms had a more summer camp vibe with different floor levels.
Where to Eat
Salvatore’s Ristorante
We had a decent size group and it wasn’t a problem.
Checa’s Edgartown
Had a large group and it was a problem. They would only take 2 different credit cards and wouldn’t even split the check for us so we had to figure out what everyone owed. And people did not calculate correctly. So rather than just sit there for hours, my mother and I decided to pay the remainder which was about $180 over what we owed… not a great experience especially considering all of these women have enough money to afford tons of Lilly and to go on this trip. Food was okay. Service was terrible.
Nancy’s
Not a huge group. Was probably the most relaxed and enjoyable meal. Had a few tables in the upstairs area. Really close to our hotel so we were able to walk. Everyone got up and modeled their outfit for the evening. It was fun!
Sand Bar & Grille
My mom and I stopped for a snack and drinks in between activities – Mexican Street Corn & Steak Nachos
Bass Best Coffee
My mom, Darice and I walked from our hotel to get breakfast before the day’s activities -Sausage, Egg & Cheese on an Asiago Bagel
What to Do
Shopping in Martha’s Vineyard
Vineyard Vines, Lilly Pulitzer, vintage and lots of small local shops
Island Tour
It was nice to be able to see the island without having to drive. The areas are spread out and there isn’t much parking. We went to the Gayhead Lighthouse and got to take pictures but had to rush to get back on the tour.
Edgartown Lighthouse
Shopping in Nantucket
Lots of store on the main street and of course Lilly Pulitzer
